If I was down to the last dollar of my marketing budget I would spend it on Public Relations.

I am graduating in August 2015 with my Bachelor of Liberal Arts in Public Relations. I have thoroughly enjoyed my learning during my time at Auburn University. I feel that the skills and techniques I have gained can be instantly applied no matter where I go with my career.
So what is public relations?
For me, public relations is about communicating, but it is also about being concise. In practicing PR I hope that I can use my skills to create better communication and develop effective problem solving skills through the focused engagement of all the parties involved.

It doesn’t matter how many times I have to click, as long as each click is a mindless, unambiguous choice.

While I am not a graphic design major, I have learned a great deal about HTML and CSS coding through my Public Relations Style and Design class. As you can see in this website that I have made, I have a solid grasp on design and pertinent techniques.
During my time at Auburn I have learned many new software products to complement my design skills. They include the Adobe Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Dreamweaver, etc.), Microsoft Office and Wordpress.

Either write something worth reading or do something worth writing.

A pertinent course I took within my Public Relations curriculum at Auburn was PR Writing. In this class I learned different essential tools that a PR practitioner has at their disposal such as press releases, backgrounders, feature stories and media kits.
My final project for the class involved the creation of a media kit. This was accomplished through working with a real client in interviews and meetings to gather the information needed. You can see this product in my Portfolio.

A satisfied customer is the best business strategy of all.

The campaigns class is considered a public relations capstone course in our curriculum. In this class I learned about different strategies in creating campaigns for clients out in the world.
Our group worked with the City of Auburn in our campaign to increase community awareness and use of The Deck, which is a parking deck and event space. We worked closely with our client for an entire semester then presented our campaign at the end.

Great questions make great reporting.

I took reporting as a supporting coursework class because I know how essential it is to develop and maintain effective writing skills. This class gave me experience in interviewing many people and working with short deadlines.
While in the class I wrote many different styles of news stories. I covered speeches, attended local city council meetings, talked about national business trends and learned about the advantages of live tweeting and keeping your audience informed.
